Supermodel Alek Wek Honored At The AAFA American Image Awards
Black Supermodel Alek Wek was honored by the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) during the 30th Annual American Image Awards in New York last Wednesday. Alek Wek received the “Spirit of a Woman” award for being a fashion model and a humanitarian during the gala event that was held in Grand Hyatt Hotel. The purpose of the gala was to raise money for Fashion Delivers and K.I.D.S. Fashion Delivers is a charity organization that helps poor children and families and those who have been victims of natural disasters. K.I.D.S. Foundation, on the other hand, donates merchandise to children and youth of more than 1,000 non-profit organizations.
Along with supermodel Alek Wek, Mark Badgley and James Mischka were also honored during the AAFA American Image Awards as the two were named "Designer of the Year."
