The event also launched the Yohji Yamamoto Fund for Peace, which aims to inspire creativity amongst China’s new generation of fashion talents.
The fund helps a Chinese designer who will be chosen annually for a two-year course of study at a fashion college in Japan or Europe. Moreover, a male or female model will also be selected for their glamorous debut in runway modeling at the Paris prêt-a-porter season.
The event was held in a small temple to the east of the Forbidden City. Two days after the show, the clothes will be auctioned at a dinner in a Beijing Hotel with money raised going to the peace fund. The charity dinner and auction sighted many notable names and faces from Beijing’s fashion, design and art community.
Indeed, nothing can perhaps promote better international relations than the universal language of fashion.
