The Drama Group is casting Blood Relations, by Sharon Pollock; a play that investigates the Lizzie Borden legend in a new and surprising way.
SEEKING:
FEMALE (20s to 30s) - THE ACTRESS/LIZZIE BORDEN. A great tragic actress of the stage who is having an illicit affair with the infamous Lizzie Borden. She is impatient and wants to know the truth. She acts out the part of Lizzie during the time of the murders: an intelligent, strong-willed woman who sees the life she desperately desires being ripped away from her. To save herself, she may be pushed to commit a terrible crime.
FEMALE (30s to 40s) - MISS LIZZIE/BRIDGET SULLIVAN. Lizzie Borden ten years after the murders, now a very wealthy woman with dark secrets and burning passion. She acts out the part of Bridget Sullivan, the Borden’s feisty Irish maid with a soft spot for Lizzie. Must be able to do (or learn to do) a good Irish accent.
FEMALE (30s to 40s) - EMMA BORDEN. The quiet, spinsterly older sister of Lizzie Borden. Emma has a deeply concealed hatred for her father and stepmother. After the murders, she is very afraid of her sister and what she may have done.
MALE (50s to 60s) - ANDREW BORDEN. The miserly father of Emma and Lizzie. A former undertaker who now owns most of Fall River, he is all business and shows very little affection for his wife or children, except for Lizzie, with whom he has a special relationship.
FEMALE (40s to 60s) - ABIGAIL BORDEN. The second wife of Andrew Borden, virtually a housekeeper. Abigail has not had a happy life, but she tries not to think about it and turns to food for comfort. She is an extremely sensible and realistic woman who doesn’t get along with Lizzie the dreamer.
MALE (30s to 60s) - UNCLE HARRY. The lecherous brother of Abigail and step-uncle to Emma and Lizzie. He is using Andrew for financial gain and is very attracted to Bridget the maid.
MALE (30s to 60s) - DR. PATRICK. A local Irish doctor who has a passionate flirtation with Lizzie, even though he is married. When Lizzie suggests that they run away together he rejects her. Must be able to do (or learn to do) a good Irish accent.
