The Artists Theatre Group, in association with Warren Baker and Sally Jacobs (producers), is casting Gates of Gold.
SEEKING:
MALE (50s to 60s; British/Irish) - GABRIEL. Very sick, Conrad’s long-time partner, flamboyant, strong, extravagant former actor, tries to remain brave even as he is nearing death, founded a theatre company with Conrad in Dublin, is in one instant incredibly vulnerable and in the next mercilessly lashing out at anyone within his reach with his biting wit;
MALE (50s to 60s; British/Irish) - CONRAD. Gabriel’s partner, loves Gabriel dearly, but this doesn’t stop them from relentlessly going at each other with ardent fervor, more introverted and refined than his partner, founded a theatre company with Gabriel in Dublin, at a crossroads in his life, extremely contemplative, left trying to decide whether to remain alone after his partner passes or to attempt starting over in new company;
FEMALE (20s to 30s; Irish) - ALMA. Gabriel’s sensible nurse, with a tortured past, possesses a great well of compassion as well as a haunted past, which ends up making her an apt target for Gabriel’s acerbic taunts, Irish accent required;
FEMALE (50s to 60s; British/Irish) - KASSIE. Gabriel’s sister, provides a cold counterpoint to Alma, selfish, shrewd, tells wild tales of how she has suffered from every illness imaginable, unnervingly seeks pity, even in the company of her dying brother;
MALE (mis-20s; Irish) - RYAN. Kassie’s handsome son, tends to fabricate outlandish stories, is given to great anger and bitterness, underneath all of that is genuine concern for his uncle, Irish accent required
